Setting the industry standard
SMC is a founding member of CEDIA, the trade association that governs the custom installation industry. We have had non-stop board representation at CEDIA for over 15 years and have helped set the standard for best practice throughout the industry. SMC has more CEDIA certified engineers than any other company worldwide.
Award winning, innovative design
Our design department employs an architect and highly skilled designers fully proficient in the latest Computer Aided Design techniques. We produce positional, schematic and builder's work drawings in 2D, and 3D where required. We'll go the extra mile to give you and your colleagues concise, beautifully-presented design documentation so that you can efficiently make the right decisions. SMC has consistently won some of the industry's leading awards including CEDIA World-Wide Dealer of the Year, as well as various awards from AMX, B&W, Crestron, Kef, Lutron, Meridian and many others.
Ensuring quality
In 1999 SMC moved to its current location in Pepys Court, London SW4 with a team of 15 people and won projects throughout the UK. By 2000 the number of new projects were growing considerably, driving the need for new staff and implementing procedures to ensure consistent quality work, delivered on time. As a result, SMC were granted Investors in People status in 2002. The company has grown each year (around 70 staff at time of writing), and maintains externally-assessed Quality Management Systems to ensure we continue to deliver projects correctly.
Third party accreditations
Our work is recognised and accredited by third party organisations including:
ISO 9001: 2008
As a growing company, SMC recognises the need for a Quality Management system, which ensures that procedures are implemented and maintained to help the company retain its position as the leading systems integrator in the UK. SMC was the first company of its type in the UK to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation for its Quality Management system. This accreditation has been successfully retained since then and we continuously examine ways in which we can improve and stay ahead.
Investors In People
SMC fully recognises the importance of training people to work effectively with new products and technology, which gives them a competitive edge. People and their development is a key area identified within the business plan that states that all staff are to be the best qualified. IiP is a proven framework for delivering business improvements through people and SMC has continued to meet the requirements of the framework since 2002.
“This company embodies the best qualities of a small to medium sized company combining a high degree of flexibility and informality with highly professional management, technical and other expertise.”
