The existing, sophisticated but complex system in this property had resulted in the client falling out of love with technology. The head-end was over-heating, which caused the equipment to fail, breaking the integration between equipment. The client was frustrated with the system and needed to be persuaded that the right solution for them was to invest in re-engineering and upgrading it to make it work simply, reliably and seamlessly.
We advised the client to relocate and redesign the main head-end and room so it would stay cooler, improve system reliability and allow for easier maintenance. We updated the Crestron system and designed a simpler, more modern user interface and enhanced the functionality of the integration between Crestron and sub-systems.
At the heart of this upgrade was the installation of a new Crestron CP3 processor. Part of the plan to streamline and simplify the user interface was to natively integrate in the Crestron system more sub-systems than before, rather than relying on gateways and converters, which needed the improved power and flexibility offered by the series 3 processors.
The existing in-wall Crestron touch screens were replaced by new IP touch screens. To these, we were now able to directly integrate the upgraded Siedle video door entry system (allowing the client to answer calls and open the gates from any touch screen or mobile device with Crestron’s app), the updated Hanwha IP CCTV solution, and the Texecom intruder alarm. Integration with the intruder alarm system made it quicker and more convenient to set the alarm on leaving the house.
The multi-room audio system was updated to Sonos to provide music controls via Crestron’s native Sonos integration. We retained the existing Lutron lighting control system, as requested by the client.
