The new era of SONOS

Sonos recently announced the new Era 300 and Era 100 smart speakers that went up for pre-order last week and will be available to purchase in stores from 28th March. Both speakers now support Bluetooth 5.0 and AirPlay 2 for wirelessly streaming audio from devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

ERA 300

T

he Era 300 takes spatial audio above and beyond with six optimally positioned drivers around the front, sides and top to support Dolby Atmos Music, four tweeters, two woofers, USB-C line in, and a far-field microphone array with beamforming and multi-channel echo cancellation. Era 300 is the first Sonos speaker capable of multi-channel surround sound when used as rear speakers in a home cinema system, and features Trueplay technology for automatic EQ optimizations.

ERA 100

The Era 100 features a similar cylindrical design to its successor – the Sonos One,  and has three digital amplifiers, two tweeters, and one woofer. Like the Era 300, it has USB-C line in, Trueplay and a far-field microphone array. Sonos will also be adding support for Apple Music’s spatial audio feature. Apple Music subscribers will be able to listen to spatial audio tracks on the Era 300, as well as the Arc and second-generation Beam sound bars.
