“This apartment has floor to ceiling windows and doors throughout the key living spaces providing amazing 360-degree views of the coast. Our client wanted to be able to appreciate the surroundings while also being able to conveniently create some privacy when required.”
For this reason, he opted to upgrade his existing manual blinds, to automated – the Lutron Sivoia QS range. Sivoia QS can control the entire Lutron family of automated window treatments, from roller shades and sheers, to romans blinds and traditional curtain tracks.
Custom roller blind headboxes were created to house the motorised roller blinds allowing an unobstructed view of the coastline with an elegant internal ceiling detail. Each area had different privacy, solar control, and blackout requirements. In the living area privacy blinds were required with an added fabric performance to control light, heat, and glare. The Master Bedroom required a dual roller blind system with privacy and performance and additional 100% blackout achieved. Fabric retaining side channels were buried into the recesses with bespoke internally painted headboxes to complete the blackout configuration and perfectly eliminated all natural light.
The beauty of automated window treatments is the ease and convenience of controlling various blinds in a chosen area, in unison, no matter where you are in the property.
The means of control for this project was provided using Lutron Pico RF keypads which were installed in place of standard light switches. These Pico’s controlled both blinds and lighting throughout the property.
In terms of AV the client’s requirement was for simple control with a minimalistic look. In media areas we specified and installed the Samsung Frame TV screens – a TV that looks like an elegant picture frame when not in use. This allows the client to display still images of their choice.
We specified Crestron HR-150 remotes, with the associated control system, to select and easily switch between video sources (BT, Apple TV & Blu-Ray) which are installed in the credenza unit located in the living room and connected to a 4×4 video matrix switcher.
On the terrace Bowers & Wilkins AM1 waterproof speakers were chosen, and are connected to the new Sonos ‘AMP’ amplifiers located with the other AV equipment in the same credenza unit. The client uses music streaming services and can easily connect to the Sonos amplifiers via Airplay and play music through the speakers.
