This project creates a truly-harmonious outdoor living experience, combining cutting-edge technology with elegant design, ensuring this technically-minded client and his family can truly enjoy their garden to the fullest.
Working closely with the Randle Siddeley team, SMC worked to transforms the very challenging outdoor space into the stunning, multifunctional environment that the client hoped for. Close coordination ensure that lighting, security devices, WiFi and entertainment technology were discreetly incorporated into the natural environment.
The Sonance Landscape Series audio system enhances the family’s time outdoors, with discreet satellite speakers integrated into the planting, complemented by larger buried subwoofers for rich, deep sound. This design ensures even audio coverage, allowing for high-quality listening without sound pollution annoying the neighbours. Strategically hidden waterproof access points provide robust Wi-Fi coverage throughout the outdoor area, ensuring seamless connectivity for all devices – even when the family entertain and there are fifty people enjoying the space.
Security is paramount for this client. Comprehensive CCTV coverage includes discreet cameras for full perimeter monitoring. Infrared beam detectors enhance safety by providing early intrusion alerts the on-site security team, highlighting the relevant CCTV feeds, and illuminating the area concerned. The beautiful, bespoke entrance gates feature a high-security multi-point electronic locking system, integrated into the site-wide access control system. A custom video entry panel, utilising BPT and HIK facial recognition technology, harmonises with the property’s aesthetic while providing enhanced security.
The Lutron lighting control system enables customised outdoor lighting scenes, allowing the client to set the perfect ambiance from within the house or via wireless devices from the garden itself or elsewhere. SMC’s technical specialists integrated with Italian lighting manufacturer Twinkly, and integrated colour-changing lights into the beautiful green wall created by Randle Siddeley in the sunken garden - creating dynamic lighting effects that bring this more-challenging, darker space to life.
For entertainment in this area, a Samsung Terrace TV paired with waterproof B&W speakers delivers exceptional audio visual performance, all easily controlled via Crestron on the client’s iPhone. Motorised awnings and louvres effectively manage solar gain for the impressive 7-meter-tall glass doors, providing comfort in both indoor and outdoor spaces. For added convenience, a bespoke secure, fully-connected delivery system allows parcels and letters to be delivered directly to the property’s perimeter, without the need to meet the courier in person. With a built in sensor, clients are notified upon delivery, minimising disturbance and ensuring peace of mind.
The striking outbuilding—featuring an office, living room, and kitchenette—is seamlessly connected to the main Lutron and Crestron systems, ensuring effortless control throughout the entire property.
